What do you want it for? They make pretty indestructible sandpits

On the other hand they are cheap & cheerful & an assymmetric boat. I imagine spare parts are cheap. I don't know if there is an active class association; I would not want to join a class that didn't have a really keen and friendly association!

oh, i seriously doubt there is an ISO class in ireland. but what is there? all i know of is 420s 505s fireballs mirrors and lasers, i mean im sure there are loads more but not that i hav encountered, and to tell the truth none of those boats i just listed are in any way appealing to me.

If you want an ISO Brian you go for it.  If you are getting a bit big for the kiddie classes then it's not a bad place to start.  www.isoracing.org.uk

The ISO is one hell of a good boat for the money.  Fast and unlike some of the more recent designs it goes well in the light stuff too.

if you want large class racing in Ireland, one option
is the multihull class, with lots of classes in one
class so to speak
