Youth Catamaran Development Programme
Catamaran Introduction Day
PURPOSE
To introduce young sailors to Catamaran sailing and racing as a stepping stone to the Junior / Youth Catamaran Squads.
HOSTED BY
British Hobie Cat Class Association in conjunction with Herne Bay Sailing Club With support and recognition from the RYA.
BOATS
Intro Day training is carried out on boat kindly supplied by the following;
Topaz CX16 supplied by Topper.
Dragoons and Hobie 16s supplied by Hobie UK.
AGE RANGE
11 – 17 years
SAILING ABILITY
Competent RYA level 2 in dinghy or windsurfing with some club racing experience
INDIVIDUAL / TEAMS
It is an advantage to come to the Intro Days with a sailing partner, but we do not discourage individuals and do our best to match them up during the day.
COACHING
Coaching will be lead by RYA Cat Coach Nick Taylor and will include a variety of on and off the water catamaran skills.
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
Participants must bring a packed lunch and their own sailing equipment
SAILORS SAFETY
Safety boat cover is available on the water at all times.
PARENTS
Parents are welcome to stay for the day and see the action.
FUTURE PATHWAYS
- Selection for the Dragoon Charter Programme
- Join the Hobie Class Dragoon / Hobie 16 squad coaching programme
- Selection for RYA National Squad
- Represent GBR at European, World catamaran racing level

£15 per sailor per day
