I am very impressed with the Royal Torbay YC results service for the RS700 Nationals. We have a couple of members taking part so we have been following their progress. It is now 1400hrs on the last day and the final results have been posted. In fact the results have been appearing online within minutes of the races finishing. Now that is impressive and sets the target for all clubs and classes to follow. Can anyone beat that???? |

The results for the Wilson at West Kirby are up pretty speedily. Can waste a whole weekend clicking refresh every 15minutes to see who is winning. I think their Swiss League system requires them to put all their results into the computer to find out who the next races are going to be. And this is then displayed on screens everywhere, so its not that much more to upload it all for their fanbase. All very flash.

Speedy results are definately a good feature for any event. I never have much time to hang around after events for prize givings. IMHO they should do them as soon as everyone is off the water, rather than waiting till everyone packs their boats up, has a shower and gets changed.

Emsworth Slipper SC is very impressive with its club racing results - when I
was sailing there in the autumn I was astounded how quickly the results for their Hare & Hounds Series went up... sometimes they were up by the time I got home ( a few hours after racing)! Edited by Gael |

Essex Yacht Club is absolutely hopeless at putting up results. It's not even the speed that's in question in this case it's whether they go up at all!! It seems almost as if you're laughed at there for wanting race results and seen as way way too competitive! The latest results to go up on the website are those of a race on the 13th of May put up today!!

Yes I think this is a real issue, especially in handicap racing. I can't see why they can't be calculated as the boats finish. Its just a question of dividing the elasped time by the PY (908 PY requiring division by .908) and then list them in order. Its an issue at one of my club where they seem to wait until they've locked up the race box at the end of the day and then pass the raw data to some poor sole who then passes the results to somebody else who then emails them the next day. Its Monday evening as I write this and I still don't know where I came on Sunday! |
