Hi, On my plastic Topaz the Spinnaker halyard cleat ripped out of the deck the other week in a blow. Is there an easy way to repair the holes so that the screws can regain some bite ? Its a blind part of the hull where you cannot access it underneath so a repair is needed from above. Is there some sort of helicoil device for plastic hulls sold to make a repair like this, anyone know ?

Not sure about how to repair this. I know with pico's you end up melting plastic ontop of the original.
Probably your best bet if noone else can answer this is to send an email to Topper with a picture. Good Luck ![]() |

Topper supply a brass insert that can melted (you may need to obtain some more plastic [it must be exactly the same type that the boat is already made of!]) into the hole and then a mashine screw can be fixed in to. Back in the day they used to send them out free, not sure if this is still the case, but they should only be a few pounds. Aternativly you make some thing with nuts depending on your fabrication skills. |
