Keep your front leg straight , bend your back leg to help balance. Dont arch your back (it hurts in the long run). Keep a straight body with a small stance ( keep feet togetherish) Point your toes for maximum leverage. Arms behind head etc. Get a comfortable harness. get the wider mouth trapeze rings for the boat. Get some good cleats for the adjuster ropes. Start off high to get confidence, then adjust yourself to a lower position. Instead of bending legs to counter windward heel, use the adjuster rope. Oh and be confident!
Other than that have fun!!
P.s what are you trapezing on?

i went on a 505 a last weekend and one thing i found with trapezeing on the 505 is there is no kicker barso you need to push off the floor then swing your legs under you then push straight off off the side

Nice, they have quite high tanks aswell dont they so it should be fun.  I might just get the helm to swap so he can crew and I can just sit there

urm well i trapeze like a bit of a whore, i keep my legs fairly well open, but this seems to be what quite a few skiff sailors do. Urm in know on fireballs you are supposed to keep your feet right next to each other, but i would say about shoulder width apart and make sure you are comfortable. And always make sure by the time you put your weight onto the trap wire you are clipped on, done that a few times!

I usually find that keeping a nice a straight body helps alot with hsoulders back but make sure your harness is tight over your back to avoid stressing yuour lower back.

feet about a foot apart with front food facing forwards and twist your body to see where your going.

I nice pair of sticky boots will work wonders on a reach as well.

Generally, I try and keep my feet closer together instead of wide appart due to the fact that when you spread your legs, you reduce height for example try doing the splits and you notice the loss of height as your legs become further appart and any loss in height has a knock on affect to loss in righting moment. The 505 is quite a stable platform to trapeze from but please take care when you are going out because I've seen crews hook on, step off the side in a vertical position and as they come down horizontal, the hook unclips and they end up swimming. If you are tall enough, you can kick off the centreboard casing but as you are going out, try to keep a low down position.

All good advice above aprt from the bit about the adjuster rope ...

I'd find a sensible average setting for the wind conditions then move your weight in and out by bending and extending your legs to balance the boat.
