Want to sell some Fireball sails on ebay. I keep seeing sails for sale
with £10.00 delivery. Can you just take your ?foot long sails down to
the post office and just mail them? Anyone done this? What did you
do?

Cheers Marko

The post office could arrange delivery of the parceI but I would suggest that you also compare prices with some courier firms.

Weigh the sails, add a bit on for the packaging, and make some calls.  The price will also vary depending on whether you want next day delivery, insurance etc.  Once you have found the best deal, use that when calculating the cost of postage and packaging to indicate on your eBay listing.

Use one of the Courier firms.  You can then get proof of "postage" and so will not be liable if someone says it did not turn up - Ebay is starting to get a little dodgy IMO for some things (hopefully not sailors and sailing kit sales, but you never know).

I have been trying to send a set of merlin sails to a buyer, but am not having mucht any success with couriers. Royal Mail/Parcel force will only take parcels less than 1.5m and most of fthe couriers don't cater for private individuals. Anybody got any ideas on who I could use?

Thank

I got a new rig (two piece mast as well as sails) sent from New Zealand by DHL a few years ago. Business sender though.

Go to your friendly local chandler and get them to do it for you.

Yes it's more expensive, but you won't have to wait in for a courier, they will pack it for you and the buyer is paying postage anyway - it's not as if fireball sails turn up on ebay often!

I'm looking for a company to delivery a mast. Any ideas? (the link above doesn't work) Alternatively if anyone fancies bring a Contender mast from Bournemouth to Darlington (or anywhere in the midlands would be a help) I'll make it worth their while.

DHL got me a rig from New Zealand to Epsom. The local delivery office complained about it being too long for their local delivery vans so they had to send one of the artics. That rig had a separate topmast though.

When I sent my Finn main to North for a repair they told me just to fold it up and put it in a box. Obviously I took the battens out.
When it came back it was beautifully flaked and folded....
