I am after a long john type wetsuit - full legs / body but no arms. My current 1mm Rooster one is worn out and is not really warm enough for the winter having shivered through last winter wearing it.
I am tempted by the Zhik Superwarm X skiff suit which is 2mm / 3mm and having used their wetsuit trousers all summer I like the fit and they have taken the abuse well. Anyone else recommend a longjohn in 2mm / 3mm please? Thanks

Personally I would look outside of the dinghy business for wetsuits, that Zhik brand is ludicrously overpriced which would be fine if it were offering a superior product, but...

Hi I have a Rooster race skin for Autumn or second day of an open after wearing the thermaflex on day one. You do need over shorts with it and it does not hold hiking pads.

Any brands you would recommend Graeme? Not really that familiar outside of dinghy sailing etc |

Unfortunately my go to brand has closed, Spartan. But there are lots of good brands Ion, Oneil, are two that immediately spring to mind. I notice those skiff suits you were looking at have no arms, what's the reason for that other than to build less suit for more money? All the sports outside of dinghy sailing have far greater reliance on arm movement, wind, kite and surfing why is it dinghy suppliers think it's a great idea to call a suit a skiff suit charge more money yet not provide arms? I'd love to hear the BS they come up with for that.
For the sort of money they are asking you could go to Snug in Cornwall and have a made to measure custom suit to your own spec. Double line the butt and knee but single line everywhere else I would. Or pay 150 or thereabouts for a perfectly reasonable full suit from any number of suppliers in the surf. kitesurf, wind surf etc. £255 for a skiff suit is unreasonable imv. Oneil I really like, their superfreak stuff is amazing.
Only thing is for long john's Oneils offering has a zip. I tend to think if there is one wetsuit item the dinghy makes compete with surfing then it the long john. I have Gill Skiff-suit which is versatile with various levels of tops.

I like the longjohn option with no arms because I tend to use layers. In autumn and spring I wear the LJ with a rashvest only but in winter I add a wetsuit "shirt" and spray top. This means I can take lots of options to an event and mix and match to get the perfect temperature and even take an extra item out with me which is easy to slip on between races to keep warm which is hard to do with a full suit.....but I do agree that its a rip off that they charge more for less!!!
