Hi all. The bottom 2 foot or so of my mast track has cracked and is separating from the mast. Is this something I can fix myself or, failing that, is it expensive to have repaired?

no idea, I'm sure someone else will give you some advice

Failing that try giving Boatyard at beer a ring or drop them an email, they're really helpful

Do it yourself. You'll need a tube of plexus.

It is an easy DIY fix, but to use plexus - or any similar two part acrylic adhesive - you really need a dispensing gun and the nozzles. It tends to make a bit of a mess if you don't!

Useful tools to have, but the shelf life of the glue is short and for the squirt you need id get a local repairer to do it. It'll most likely be cheaper than buying the tool.

I don't think it's a Selden mast on a 600.

That doesn't necessarily make this a bad idea, the basics are the same. But it depends on what is in the kit really. I'd ring Superspars up if thats a road you want to go down.

And if it is a Superspar mast, changing the track for a Selden will surely put the mast out of class?

You dont need the mixing gun. Its a 50:50 mix. Just squeeze out a blob onto a little mixing board and use a lollipop stick to thoroughly mix then apply.

You do need the gun really. It's a sensitive mix and much, much easier to apply if you have got the gun.

Craiggo is right, we use a lot of MA300 in 400ml cartridges and for small bits it just gets pumped onto a board and mixed the old fashioned way, the 300 is not that sensitive to mixing but the 2 components are almost the same colour.
However,
The real advantage of the gun is that you can fit a mixing nozzle and lay a bead well within the open time of the adhesive, if you have a couple of feet of track to do I would be concerned about getting it mixed and applied in time.
The Plexus Methacrylates are quite thixo and although the 310 has a longer open time it will skin well before it stiffens thus reducing the wetted bond.

Can't you borrow a gun?
