Blaze, Phantom, D Zero, RS Aero 9 or another ?????

I'm 6'1, 85kg, mid 30's, competitive and capable sailor. I'm keen to see peoples thoughts on a suitable boat I should take a look at.
I'm looking for a NON Trapeze boat which has an active class association, good quality class racing, active open meeting circuit, 40+ boats at Nationals, boat holds it price well, well made and lastly faster than a Solo
thoughts?..

I am guessing your somewhere south, Portsmouth maybe??

Solution, all day long, best boat on the market and I've tried them all.

It also allegedly has all the Solo attributes without it actually being a Solo with all its crap image and on board spider attack death squads.

Now I am obviously going to suggest D-Zero, given I am he class sec!  We meet much of your criteria or certainly will this year now we are past the teething issues of having nationals venue pulled at the last minute.  My main reason for suggesting it as a boat, is the class demographic.  Which is pretty much spot on for you.  I myself am mid 30's (wish i had your height) and the same weight.  We have a great bunch of guys and girls in the fleet, which is growing nicely.  I am currently working on our open circuit for next year and we will be sailing at some great venues.  I can honestly say i have never sampled closer racing than in the zero, for me thats partly down to everyone having exactly the same kit (no one has old sails yet) but its also down to a really broad spectrum of abilities, from beginner through big name sailor.  We have fleets all around the county now, so not just a south coast fleet.  As for residual values, its difficult to say.  But i cant see why any dinghy has bad residual nowadays given the state of the used dinghy market everything seems to hold its price very well indeed!!!!

If you want to try one i'm sure we can sort something for you, best place to look is the D-zero facebook page.  We are a largely friendly bunch and its very active indeed.  Albeit i seem to constantly get the piss taken out of me (Everyone always pics on the fat kid)

RS300

[Thread closed....]

In all seriousness, we may not have quite managed 40 at the nationals but it was an excellent event with really close racing throughout the fleet. It was my first nationals and it surprised me just how close the racing was given the wide range of sizes of helms. Your height/weight is, i'd wager, almost perfect. The boat is an absolute peach to sail and the class association is very active with a great bunch of guys running it.

They have a facebook page and this is the nationals website:

You didn't mention a budget but I think I saw that the national champs boat is up for sale, so no excuses not to go quickly in that one and if you're in Pompey its just down the road from you! There are a few sailing out of Emsworth and Thorney Island I believe.
