After sailing a Laser 3000 I now have an RS500 I am finding the rear bridle difficult when tacking & gybing in strong wind. Has anyone moved it to the centre like the 3000.

It would be out of class, probably in the wrong place and may not like the loads, although there is probably enough material to cope.

What exactly is the problem when tacking?
You'd probably be better checking out the coaching vids if there are any for the 500, or talking to people in the class to sort the technique.

I presume you mean the tiller extension catching on the bridle? We found it an absolute nightmare on our 500 too. The issue is that you really need long tiller extensions to get the weight forward in the light stuff or when you're hiking hard downwind, but they're just too long to comfortably tack and gybe. We got round it by sticking 2 tiller extensions on it, did the job really well. Much less faff than swapping round the whole mainsheet system. :)

With the RS500 you have to tack and gybe with the tiller extension forward, like a laser ( compared to a RS400 that needs the extension flicked round the back) . There were some problems with early boats with the extension too long and it caught on the central part of the main. This can be sorted by shortening the extension a bit or by moving the boom block forward,. Don't change to centre sheeting as it would be out of class but also is not necessary.
