What colour for Farr 3.7?

   Things are moving on nicely with the Farr 3.7 Demo boat build.

But we can't decide on a hull colour.

What does everyone think for a boat like this... should it be Classic or Crazy?

It would be good to know what everyone thinks!

I was thinking: 

Lime green topsides. White below the water line. With a white pin stripe.

	Stand-out but not too cherubish whacky. People will judge what kind of market you are aiming at by the way you paint this boat. As all modern boats appear to be grey, it opens up all the classic colour options as being fresh and new - so, dark blue topsides, maybe, or even a classic red. Even a magenta type pink, or International Orange would look good. I'm having a hard time thinking lime green will sell boats, though. I assume the deck will be wood coloured?

	I like lime green. Or gunmental grey with cherry red trim.

	These threads need a LIKE button! Some really good pointers there, and carbon wrapping made me chuckle! Yes top sides will be deep glossy beautiful wood! So the colour combo needs to work across the traditional-ness of that. But I think the floor and internals will be White, or indeed a colour. Rupert, you made a good point. That's exactly why I thought of asking the Forum as the colour / design will start to set out the TONE of the class. And the 3.7 sort of crosses so many age groups we were finding it hard to decide where to go with it!

	I think you also need to appeal to the boat buying demographic.... there's no point appealing to 20 / 30 somethings with something we may notionally consider 'cool' like grey, or black and white, they simply don't buy new boats in any numbers. The class is elegant and exciting, but it also new and invigorating- so no need for 'yawn grey'. Rupert raises a concern for green, there's that old wives tale about green boats too.... and the buying demographic would probably be aware of that. I'd avoid viagra blue, but there's something in that red suggestion.... it's not my colour of choice for a boat, but you can't help but think midnight blues with wood, and deep velvety reds exude class. Out of the two I'd go for the red though, it will contrast nicely with Sacre Bleu and DaveB's boat when you get some critical marketing photos running. 	Varnished topsides/white below chines is a very classic look, but works better with sapele striped ply with the veneer oriented for vertical stripes. A demo boat may well lead a hard life, so you might want to pick on a darker interior colour that won't show the dirt too much. I still rate Halo's original colour scheme as being the prettiest I've ever had on a boat. However it is hard to maintain a spray fade like that. Much, of course, can be done with peel on/off graphics to target a boat at a particular audience... Edited by JimC - 18 Dec 13 at 10:12am

	Anything but grey/white! I personally like lime green, but I feel it is the wrong choice for a demo boat. Other people are more conservative. I vote for a strong red.
