The masthead fitting on my old alloy contender mast (Wavelength) was certainly not welded. It was a fairly easy replacement job - the whole fitting came out - can't remember now if it was riveted or screwed, but you can see an old rivet in the pic up the thread.

I think it should be welded on with a weld all the way round.

Looks like there was a rivet in there once and someone has stuck it back in with silicon, or similar.

ah ok, that's the whole mast head - I was thinking just the sheave. You should be able to buy a replacement. Look at the make of the mast then contact a good chandler or the mast maker direct. You'll probably need to measure the tip of the mast but if you say it is for a contender that should help.

Easy peasy. Click "Post Reply" > Click on the small thumbnail picture of a tree which reads "Insert Image" if you hover over it > Click "Choose File" > Select the file and then press "Upload" > Post the message as normal.
