Better not eat any cheese tonight before bed or I'll wake up screaming again...

I thought that was a carbon boom, so what are they using, the RS100 boom?

I bet they don't couldn't have anything that might fit anything else in this sport could we?

RS300 has ally boom. The guy who sails his at Hunts can't wait for a carbon one! although they may need to change how the gnav attaches as I am not sure that will work too well on a carbon boom....

I think the class have been testing one for a while.  So i would think it will work fine with the gnav.  From what i have read it sounds a pricey upgrade though.

They said they'd tested the RS400 carbon bowsprit....

The price is not too bad, it compares with just over £400 for a Merlin boom, which is probably simpler, not having the point loading of the gnav. Or to look at it another way, with many boats you have to allow another handfull of cash for a fabric sling for the kicker.

No idea james prob similar to the above maybe a touch more due to some extra mouldings. But when you compare to those prices you are right its not that bad. I thought when it was initially discussed it was going to be around 350 which sounded about right to me. It is long over due to be honest the 300 boom haas long been the boats week point.

well you were all doing it wrong then Russ, cos I never had a problem with mine in the 5 years I had one and yes I did sail in very heavy winds too before you say otherwise

Everything I say is my opinion, honest

Well a Selden carbon boom for the Phantom is almost £450, plus you have to buy or recycle the slings.
The fancy Super Spars Oval carbon boom for a Phantom is nearer £640.

So I guess £550 inc VAT and inc Kicker struts for the new 300 boom isn't too bad.

Having said all that an ally boom for a Solo is between £125 and £157 depending on manufacturer.

But that's what you pay for carbon....
