f**k me! that's back on the market quicker than even I could do LOL Go grab it Blue One (before Elaine makes you have a pink one)
According to book-face he's selling it to get an Aero to join in Pistol Pete's class racing... I can't blame him for that, at least he got to try the better one first ;-) oh,and aeroNAUTIC... it's a forum, take it all with a pinch of salt.

Well given that 30 obviously myopic people apparently ordered at the show, thats 380 people with lousy eyesight then.......... both different, but both look good to me. The 7 and 9 didn't seem much different upwind, 9 is a bit faster off wind. oh and Dino 246GT - absolutely perfect.

That might imply conditions were such that both Aeros were stuck at hull-speed, or the 9 rig is extraordinarily inefficient. Then again, I'm often struck by how Radials can keep up with and sometimes beat Standard Lasers. In some conditions, the higher centre of effort of the bigger rig requires a heavier helm to balance it which in turn increases the drag, so that the increased thrust is negated by increased drag, I guess. Club SI's permitting, the canny operator will have a full quiver of rigs, of course... Edit: 330 P4 for me, please.

I had a Banks sail on phantom that was slightly smaller than the later P&B's that I have. It was quicker upwind possibly due to less drag (???) but there was a big difference with the offwind power, the P&B being much quicker. I found that the offwind speed was more crucial as you could lose more there than upwind. Therefore I'm not too surprised that the 7 is as quick as the 9 upwind (unless of course there is a lot of lard on board) but offwind, I suspect that the 7 will suffer then. That will be the biggest difference in the PY's of the two variants

well once fully powered up, I found the 8.4 more potent in the 100 than the 10.2 upwind.
Where it really lost out was reaching- OMG, even the little leg to the spreader was enough to get totally rolled over by either lighter guys on the 8.4 or well proportioned fellows using the mans rig.

You shouldn't find it in any way surprising: an example... Approximate performance difference between Standard and Radial Lasers - 3.1% (by PYS) Average performance difference between 1st and 10th in the Laser Races at the Weymouth Olympics - 2.9% (by recorded finishing times - http://www.sailing.org/olympics/london2012/results_centre.php) People here consistently overestimate the importance of boat speed/handicaps and underestimate the importance of sailor performance on the day/ability... I guess I mean I find that mere 3.1% surprising, given that the Standard rig is nearly 25% bigger than the Radial. I mean I don't expect 25% or even the square root thereof, but the 1/7th power is quite something. As Maxi says, it is offwind you really notice the difference. Skinny me has held onto quite good Standard sailors upwind in a 4.7 in a real blow, but come the windward mark they're gone (away or over!).
