Lets try and keep everyone happy then...

The Oscar this year goes to......

Over the years I have seen spinnakers attached to all sorts of unsuitable
craft...so thank you to all of the nutters......

I have seen racks attached to a vareo and a canoe seat on a laser oh and
Ians ali/ply job......thank you again to those happy to destroy their boats
in search of something different....

I, Tim, James and others have plagued the RS team for variations of their
boats. A 700 with seating to the racks and a 300 rig being mine - sound
familiar, because its pretty close to what I am sailing now!.......so thank
you to all the demanding customers.....

Lets thank all our parents for the baby boom years so there are enough
people with shot knees, carrying a full frame and lacking trapeze
coordination who still want to go fast.....

Thank you to Mike Lyons for doing a great job on revitalising the Blaze
and selling loads which along with Phantom sales demonstrated that
singlehanders were and are a growing market......

Thank you to Paul for designing the the actual boat and the style house
for making it look so damn good.....

Thank you to the YY forum and its members for giving a real buzz and
input to the process...

Thank you to Luca and Rodney for giving us all another alternative and
keeping the RS development team on there toes.....

etc etc .....

PLUS, lets not forget the people who made it happen.......

Pipe dreams are easy, but, none of this would have happened unless a UK
company had had the balls to spend what must have been a great deal of
money and enormous time in developing a completely new product in the
worst market conditions we have ever seen. Not many companies seem
live eat and breath their products with such determination and passion.

(standing ovation to the sounds of Elgar in the background and a video of
a spitfire returning to blighty over the white cliffs)

On the other hand Its a good job the boat didn't turn out to be a dog or
no one would be posting.

James

Never ever ever leave out the grumpy women from the den.......

Parody a Parody....

Good job Grahame is still developing the boat. He can't wait to see our faces
at the nationals when he pops up on his foils up the beat

One reason why i did not order a 100  it was too forgiving for me i would much rather be balls out on my ear when things go wrong which they have done just look at the vareo nationals 2007 i went for the lead with the kite overtook nick and wiped out so greatly that it took me nearly seven minutes to get the damm thing back up god i was knacked at the end of that race.
Retired now after 35 seasons in a row and time for a rest.

Confusing post Rockhopper - are you saying you would choose the Vareo
over a 100 ?!

Having sailed both in my opinion there is NO comparison as the 33 point
(and likely to widen) PY difference infers. At our club the Vareo's generally
wallow around with the Lasers, experience so far with the 100 is that is
almost embarrasingly far ahead provided there is a decent kiting leg..

The bigger kite of the 100 makes it a VERY different boat downwind than
the Vareo - much earlier planing, a lot deeper and a lot quicker and once
there is a decent breeze 'a lot more balls-out'.
Not now Kato (you fewl) !

I'm sure I've heard mbar-room mutterings about a b14 pair doing a "balls out"* stunt at some point- sounds like too much potnetial for pain!

*and everything else, of course.

In anything over 6 knots of breeze I am pretty much toe strap let off all the way. I think it is definately the most comfortable hiking boat I've ever sailed and I dont wear any of these nancy boys hiking short things!

I'm only about 5'6" ish so not that big and I agree with
Keith, its super comfortable. But as James says that is
part helped by its adjust-ability and in my case that means
moving the tow straps slightly further out.

I think if you get the chance to sail one again, and fiddle
with it before hand to set it up to your size you will find
that you end up agreeing with us.

Ian
