Thanks for the history on the Cherub.......  Very interesting.  Being in Oz I until recently have never heard of the UK Cherub.

Starting to make a lot more sense now.

May be the Oz Cherub guys should have copped a boot in the Knuts.  But then again with the 12 on the same pond, I'd say that a standard Oz Cherub would be a sensable stepping stone from small low performace dinghies to 12 footers.

Ive been sailing cherubs in England for a few years - and ive been looking at importing a 12 from OZ. I dont see it as a viable option as cost is through the roof, and then you have to add tax, import duties, they are unsure of foreign materials etc etc etc it all becomes a bit of a head ache!

As for people accepting it in England - as a cherub we get funny looks for rigging on the side, let alone the fixed pole! Dont get me wrong, im well up for it - but being a student, and also a racer, I cant really 'pull it off'! & also
the main reason is that the Bittish Uni events people wont give me a Handicap to race with at the main student nationals! So its back to cherubs for me, they do exactly what they say on the tin!

-Many thanks goes out to all of my sponsors.
Ignore my user name, my views are of a 12ft skiff

The challenge with the Twelve is that its a multiple rig boat. While this isn't as expensive as people think long term (3 rigs, but they wear out at a third of the speed) its an extra complication and you don't see it much over here. Also its a hassle, especialy with no dependable sea breeze much of the time rig choice is just a pain in the neck. I have a one off singlehander which takes maybe 10 minutes to change rig size with a stump rig, and it still really irritates me if I have t do it!
