I can only comment from a  300 POV, the leach in drifer will be hooked.  i never found a way round it, i was just concious not to over sheet the sail.

One thing, if the 100 is anything like a 300 then you need to use kicker.  More then you think and you will still need some in the light stuff.  Kicker is the most crucial control on the 300

Just come back from Menorca Sailing, they have 3 RS100's.

All you new RS100 owners, keep an eye on your mast foot. As one of the boats lifted it's mast foot base out of the floor. And another has a very suspicious looking 5mm hole leaking water directly under the mast foot area.

This could be for all sorts of reasons, and these boats do get sailed hard. But I thought it was worth a mention on here.

I don't think so. It's was in the hull skin under the mast, through the gel coat, showing some fibers. And was slightly irregular in shape.

edit: a bit like a bolt, which has been bonded in has pulled away taking the material around it's head with it leaving a void. And then the gel coat falls out.

I spoke to Nick about the hole, It's meant to be there to drain the mast well. And to keep the lobsters fresh if you've been trawling!!

First few windy trips, I saw quite alot of that 5mm hole (can you say that on a public forum?)

As for mast jumping out - its possible it wasn't right in when it was rigged because the control lines act as a retainer, as the kicker is rarely off completely. When the shrouds are pos3 they won't keep the mast in if you went trurtle.(here we are on the trawling theme again!)

Cheers

The drain hole is about 3 mm and through the hull skin. It should keep the
mast foot dry and is always worth checking that it is not blocked.

The mast was right in when it was rigged!

Ha, well Toyota did recall all the vehicles once the fault was found.  I think how they handled the recall issue was fantastic.
