^^^ The orange mainsheet - doesn't look so bad. The bridle, not attached in the photo, is yellow just to set it all off. All in all it looks fab imo!

Good piccy's, interesting how narrow the bows look in the front-on view compared to the stern-forwards view, great shape.  As for your rope colours' being 'co-ordinated' .....

PS. love those Ronstan auto-ratchet orbit blocks, they are great

The bows are 'elongated' but the camera angle does exagerate the fineness of the bow a bit !  The boat is amazingly stable for all its in-built hull design efficiency and is still rather foregiving but it 'works' as anticipated in the light stuff and is equally fast when it blows.

Now Peaky ... lets see what goes on the water !  ... and we are still waiting for the name.

I really like the Orbit block too, but have gone for Harken ratchets for the jib because I was very impressed by them on Mike's boat.

Mike - you need to come across to Chew for Visitor's Day and the RNLI Trophy in mid October. That's if there's any water left in the lake by then!

A couple more upside down shots:

Oh it does !

Ive raced with a wide variety of crew weights and even singlehanded in light conditions when I have no crew and  from drifting conditions to a true F5-6.  The boat development process is effectively complete now but I'm still learning every time '03' hits the water.  It is simply gorgeous to sail in all conditions and the only things I'd change ?

1) Maybe have a couple of jib cleats for the jib mounted just behind the windward shrouds like some N12's - particularly useful when singlehanded (sitting on the jib sheets is not ideal !)

2) Possibly go down a size in rudder blade - The Blaze one currently on the back of 03 is fine but Icon simply does not need one quite that size.  We will resolve very soon.

3) ... er struggling for a no3 now !   Just wish we'd done Icon sooner.

The biggest surprises ?

a)  How efficient the hull rig combination is proving - and we expected it to be pretty good.

b)  The 'Dangle Pole' jib system ....   'they' said it would work but I was not convinced it would add significant real vmg - until I tried it for myself.  They were right and I was wrong on this one .... it makes a massive difference and the rig is now optimised to work with the system and Icon's 3.6m jib

c) The majority of people like the look of the boat - I thought I might have been in the minority

d) The top end speed is good but not exceptional imo but the average speed is high and it points very well - Average vmg around the course is an Icon strength.
