It will be interesting to see how this pans out ...

What was the last class to be launched & establish itself without the backing of a major player?

Personally I'd like to see a bigger chute and it take off further up the mast.

The chute shape and size on a 14 depends on how many patches you have on your kite, up until recently we used to have 3 patch's which meant a shorter sock, although this does tend to bunch the kite up and make it hard to hoist and drop, we now have a 2 patch kite which means hoists and drops are easier but the only draw back is the shoot runs the whole length of the boat (ft)

Personally i think the boat looks fantastic, but quite honestly i cant see it taking off (sorry alto guys). i just cant see the market needing it.  i agree with rick in the sense that there have been no fleets pop up recently that arent backed by laser or rs, except the Rooster 8.1, but its not a boat, merely a rig. i mean look at the MRX and the mx ray and things like that, it takes something completely original to make a break nowadays (i.e. foiling moths). At least the Alto is a real boat not one of these plastic fantastic lumps of crap which people keep introducing.

"Musto Skiff" .... The name gives one of their major launch supporters away?

Perhaps the Alto will be the asymm MRX. You can't argue against the quality of delivery of the idea, just the idea itself. Good luck with the boat.
Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

Musto Skiff?

Probably the closest example but it would have been a tough road without the backing of Musto, Victor Boats & Ovington.

MRX is probably the nearest example; are they still building them?
