My original point had nothing to do with any series. You enter an event beforehand, then come along and decide to change your entry on the day because of the current weather. People with this option have a massive advantage over those who don't. Yes, I agree that it gets more boats on the water, means people enjoy it more, that it has always been that way and all that, but the BM is a big feather in the cap of the winner and people who do well.

Please Mr RO I broke my boat last week can I enter this nice smaller sailed one this week as its blowing dogs off chains.

I cant see any way of policing a pre entry form so that the boat entered is the one sailed.

Mmm, but no amount of picking the right boat will make up for sailing it anything less than brilliantly. make the event more challenging with mre sailors in the right boats too.
I think I sense a money making opportunity for clubs though. Make it run what you entered, but a team can enter extra boats/rigs at a 10% discount on the normal entry fee. That way the club could get two or three entry fees for a single slot in the entry restriction list. Donate half the extra entry money to clubs charity of choice and few will dare criticise.

It's all a load of nonsense isn't it.  I say people use whatever they want, but correctly don't expect it to count to the series.  As long as people enjoy themselves and their chosen class falls within its own class rule set then I'm happy.  I certainly have no problem with it.  I do however have a problem with competitors or classes that use these events outside of their messurement rules as a test bed.

I find that terribly disrespectful! To the point it stopped me entering some of these events last year.  I have not noticed any rule flouting this year luckily.

i agree with Russ.  There have been none of last year's shenanigans, or at least not that we can see, and it has been so much better for it.

I could though switch to wide wings for Steve Nicks if its windy..... Wink
