Absolutely - hence why it is a very different colour. not that would alleviate concerns regarding which size the fleet essentially migrates to over time.

I'd hedge the big rig - there are many similarities to the (f*cking awesome) RS300.

They will. But so long as the sail is kept bright blue, it won't be quite such a problem for race officers getting the right boat. It will still be a problem once the results sheets are passed on to whoever does the sailwave part, though, if the sheet simply says D Zero. This is where Fire and Halo are a good thing.

But rig swapping will, like for the Aero, make a different boat. Up to clubs how they deal with that, really.

Or the alternative is to call it one class, only go for one PY- maybe restrict swapping at class events if that's the general consensus.

Agreed on the Blaze derivatives- there is NO confusion and IMHO, it is be handled respectfully of competitors in other classes.

We are you asking these questions when you have no interest in buying anything that's not from Rodney?

I'm afraid that simply isn't true.  Over the last few years, i have owned boats built by Vandercraft, Winder.  I also own a Graduate i sail with my daughter.  Rodney only supplies North sails, i only ever used north sails on my Solo.

I am asking the questions because, like you i'm guessing.  I have an interest in whats new in a sport i Love.  I am also expecting to be racings some Aeros at some point, so being clear about the ruleset they are working to regarding rigs etc. is important to me.

Just for the record, the D-Zero small rig, is a different class.  It will Be called D-Zero Blue (i am sure it will be abbreviated)  It will sit under the overarching umbrella of the D-Zero class association, however the boats are strikingly different to look at due to sail colour.  So pulling a fast one will be difficult.

Which is exactly what i was suggesting earlier in the other thread.  Make things contrasting, make it easier.  Just because i bought a competitor boat does not mean my opinion is not valid.  You can't argue surely that it makes common sense?

This is a forum FFS; and a very gentlemanly one at that; if you want to see what a sh*t fight is get over to SA where people really know how to have a fight and fling the insults around ...

RS have used this forum extensively over the years, especially to flog a load of 100s which it would seem are not so popular now ...

You gotta take the rough with the smooth if you want to play the game ... y'all just need to get a grip ... it is just a forum ... the real stuff happens on the water ...

From the front page:

http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/179841/New-fleet-of-RS-Aeros-arrive

A bold claim from RS that the Aero 5 is faster than a full Laser. Is it really so? If true, that's surely the biggest increase in youth performance since the 29er. And the upwind planing claim repeated too.
