Ah Rupert, you're a boy in a mans world. Caught you out yesterday with just how bright you are on another thread so don't make a dick of yourself here as well.

I tell you what, you stick with your Cadets and mighty Mirrors and we'll never cross paths. I'll stick with progress, you stick to stagnation.

I'm done.

Nice to see Rupert was correct about you, a troll.
Also it is very unnecessary to be rude to a man who gives up a lot of this time to grass roots sailing at his club and knows more about boats and sailing than most of us could ever hope to. He is a proper sailing man, though and though, unlike some people on here who are just forum warriors

Having a forthright view does not make someone a troll.   But I agree, a little aggressive towards Rupert, clearly Assassin doesn't not want to sail in handicap events- where all manner boats of ages and lineages are usually welcomed.

It's worth also noting none of us really know what we do and don't contribute to sailing just by reading posts here, so we can't expect new posters to apply that to the views we hold.  Bottom line I don't see what grass roots involvement offers to the discussion particularly.

And what is a 'proper sailing man'... sounds like a naff action figure, or a worse, a euphemism that went hand in hand with an old, long dead navy reputation.    ;-)

To use the trolls expression James, stop being a dick :)

Lol, I know it's not popular, but I can kind of see where Assassin is coming from.  No way I'd put my kids in a Mirror or a Cadet.  If they want to learn to sail dinghies, then I think single handers are where I'd look- a short passage through Oppies (rental centre ideally) into Teras.

In reality they are far more interested in far more ancient modes of transport.... hence the house move.

My boys (6 and 8) don't give two hoots what any grown up thinks is cool, they just wanrt to have fun.  I've been taking them out in an old composite Miracle.  Overweight and no kite, but robust, amazingly quick to rig, comfy and stable.  Points awfully but still gets round the course same speed as a Feva.  A much under rated boat, the Miracle.

Its too big to send them out on their own (even if they were in any way competent to let out alone) so I see where the Mirror (and Cadet) comes in to things, but then I think if they were sailing without me I would probably put them in a singlehander (Tera or oppie) just so they couldn't argue with each other!

You did? Strange, must have missed it.

What do you sail? Just so I can avoid it. Mind, I suspect the others in your class would probably prefer you didn't sail it, judging by your comments on here.

BTW, who are you? No secret who I am, or do you like to hide behind your keyboard?

Mind, hopefully you are done, so I won't ever get answers...

He's coming from a reasonable angle when he promotes the Feva, sure - but is it reasonable to denigrate other classes that (as posters here say) are enjoyed by many kids and do a good job at filling another niche?  And it's almost certainly unreasonable to attack the honesty of other posters (as he did when he claimed Mirror parents on this forum were making up stories) and then get all sooky when faced with some remarks that were much milder than his own insults.

By the way, your kids may surprise you with what they want to sail; ours did!
