Hi. The zero was intended to be efficient at straight line sailing (low boom) but comfortable and accessible (plenty of cockpit depth, you can sail upwind with no vang if you like, even if windy - sheets out to 13 or 14 degrees on traveller alone) so you should have a nice high boom in the tacks and feel like you have the best of both worlds.
Old guys and young guys (and gals) alike up to 6'5" seem to be happy enough.
If you are ok in a laser / solo / phant / Finn you will be fine in the zero.

Based on my minisail days, I'd imagine the carnage was fittings ripping out all over the place!

Fair enough. Was marginal planing 6m weather in Poole. I am sure Jeffers wouldn't mind anyone taking out his pride and joy - all for the greater good!

No we didn't like to take them out without someone 'official' on hand, it was blown off anyway saturday, (4.2 weather windsurfing) then sunday mornings race was a tad hairy, although the water was flat enough. It started off with next to nothing, then switched 180, then back again, then squalls and rain, not exactly summer demo day conditions.
I rigged one up so everybody could take a look, none of them have seen a boat made this century before..

Get out sailing then, Graeme? If Poole was anything to go by it'd have been fine yesterday!

The chaps down at Hythe weren't too impressed with my explanation about that bit being a wine cooler, then I mentioned it might be to do with the ageing market segment and incontinence. They were even less impressed with the sticky out bit underneath, that won't last long coming up the beach being chased by a big curly one. One does have to wonder why...
