Perhaps it's not the boat that is the problem? |

James, I feel your pain. We had 2 navigational errors last night out on the yacht which cost us dearly. Last to the first mark... first to the second mark and then just about last again to the third mark! Anyway, we prefered our scenic route as it was a lovely little trip out of the Dart and into Start Bay!

Nah ... I think he's mis-typed that ... the great Grumpfs never loses because of his own sailing skills it is always the boat, the PY, etc ... |

The small one Graham, didn't even bother buying the big one... The thing I learnt most last night was that I had to hike hard and get some speed on before trying to point, then once the foils had a hold I could sheet in another 6 inchs and hike even harder. When I finally couldn't take any more I would ease the sail and have a rest until the foils started to loose grip and then repeat the process all over again. It was real easy to sheet in, feel as though everything was set right but find myself slipping side ways. |

What Ian didn't tell you is that the next boat was the alleged bandit-59er, using the trapeze but still on 908 (was on 920 without wire). The first 'normal' boat (an RS600) was almost 7 minutes down on corrected time, and virtually dead heat with the 100 on the water. That said, Ian was at full stretch on the final kite reach/run to the line while the 59er crew was stood by the mast. Did someone say overcanvassed? Regards, the RO. |

Isn't it true that Olympic selection is not usually good for any class?
The Olympic association usually get in the way and class associations lose control. How many new finns are there each year? There could be an argument for an asymmetric SH, but why not the RS700 or MPS. They are meant to be the best sailors after all. |

We're going to be holding an unofficial
get together next Saturday (15th) at Parkstone Yacht Club. All are welcome to come along. General plan is to arrive mid morning, rig and chat, go for a quick sail, have some lunch and then go back out again for two back to back club races. There’s a £7.50 fee the club charges I’m afraid for day visitors. Let me know if you would like to come by commenting to this post or PM'ing me. Phil |
