So the Aero 8 is essentially the same speed as a Laser Rooster 8.1?

Our first Aero 9, with a helm of high and well established standard, is certainly looking a deal quicker than Rooster 8.1. Not that far short of Phantom speed, but definitely slower than an RS300 with equal sailors.

20 boats at lymington!? wow.
I know people living in lymington are not exactly poor, but I've heard similar stories of cowes having over a dozen aeros and cowes is far from a wealthy town. Great to see that people are still spending money on sailing!

Gurnard has a healthy fleet and its the designers home club. We are hoping a good number will come over for the open.

Its tight times, but the boats are similar to a Laser in price, and cheaper than almost all other traditional competitors - solo, supernova, blaze, phantom etc. As I said, i think the lightness and flexible rig options broaden the appeal massively.

I haven't added to my dinghy fund in years, but buy carefully and sell carefully and the annual cost spent for having a new or newish boat isn't huge, thats the delight of dinghy sailing.

I haven't had enough races to tell yet, but a well sailed 9 looks quicker than an 8.1. all will come out in the wash.

Outside of the south coast and the lakes where else are fleets developing? No one has pushed for a fleet on the east coast as far as I'm aware.

Just look at the number of Lasers on the market at the moment, prices are definitely down when you consider I sold my 167,000 series hull for £1900 last year. That was just the boat, std rig, XD controls and 2 sails. Now you can get a 180,000 or newer for that sort of money if you look round.
