Have to agree - Jo Richards is out there doing it...

It must also be easier to put in the slot than a Laser one, which can be fiddly at times.

All credit to people out there doing it, and I am pleased to see that RS are thinking about such issues, but I don’t want to be fed b*llsh*t.

It doesn't help further people’s understanding of their sport to get presented with distorted info like this, even if we are all pretty hardened to marketing excesses these days (although probably not as hardened as we like to think we are)

So why do you think they chopped the bottom corner off?Seemed to me that he was explaining some very minor things about the boat - not exactly prime marketing material, but simply explanations of some geeky bits that those inclined that way would find interesting. For me, it could have beem more geeky - and maybe that is were the trouble lies. In simplifying things for a 2 minute soundbyte, it starts to sound a little like bullsh*t.

I should think he shaped the board for the reasons he gave - no problem with that - and if it comes across to everyone else as just a geeky thing then I offer my apologies for being a bit harsh.

But this was a video posted on YouTube by RS, a commercial enterprise launching a new product, not a random posting on Joe’s blog, so you can see how I came to my conclusion.

I hope their mainstream marketing will be a little more straight forward than this!

Seems people at Bowmoor have 10 ordered already, and I'm sure they are not alone, so something is being done right.

10 boats at Bowmoor is impressive at this early stage. Are there any other fleets known to be forming anywhere else ?

Speaking with friends at bowmoor there is not 10 sold there.  If i remember its 3 or 4, which is hardly suprising given a former RS dealer and close friend to some of the directors is a member there is it!!

Either way, its still a good effort with 3 or 4 boats as Bowmoor is a club built on strong fleet sailing.  The Laser fleet there is something to behold so even making a tiny nibble into that lot is no mean feet!

I'd happily travel 30 or 40 miles to race against a fleet of 10 RS-Aeros or D-Zeros. At Grafham Water we've had 25 Lasers out in the Wednesday Evening Series so far this season, but with an average age of over 50 the likelihood of anyone switching to one of the new boats is close to zero I suspect.

Chew seem to be doing their best to prevent the Aero or Zero being sailed there. Pity, I think it is just delaying the inevitable.
