I'll check it out.

I do know one or two old Artisan members, they may be able to shed some light.

Seems like you were right Rupert Smile  A "Flying Streak". Never heard of it before.

If you use the photo could you credit it thus: Photo by George Gouge.
 Courtesy of Roger McAll.

I always thought this would make a great sail number, until some ar**hole changed the coding to 'GBR'...

You guys are going to have to believe me on this one - but it is Phantom 88, one of Winging It's Old Fleet until last year.  I just can't find a pic with the sail up.  And it should've gone up yesterday!

Is it me or is that trailer wheel really out of alignment?

Hi everyone,

I have an old book containing sail insignia and the 'FS' (identical) is shown as a 'Flying Scot'.  Here are some details of the 'Flying Scot':

http://www.flyingscot.com/flyingscot.html

http://www.fssa.com/content/history-flying-scot  (third paragraph)

It may be a 'red herring' as the modern boats have a different insignia but I suppose that it could have been amended, over time, as the boat in the photograph is obviously very old with a very early sail number and a fully battened main sail.  Just a thought that's all.

P.S. - It does look like a catamaran though with a catamaran type main sail.

The Flying Scot is an American keelboat in the Flying 15 style, if that is the one you are talking about? Saw them in Virginia once, and a very posh, very friendly sailing club on a lake anyone in the UK would kill for. The bar was members only, so despite having only popped in to have a gander, we were bought drinks all afternoon, and were invited to sail - sadly an offer we couldn't take up.

Sadly, the DC 10 doesn't have a sail insignia, but as I'd looked it up, I thought I'd post it for all of you who won't have come across this beauty...
