It would be interesting to see how they rate when final production numbers are released for both boats.  I am not sure the data for either ship is overly accurate at the moment.  But i agree Peaky's PY calculation is an excellent tool for using parameters already know to help give an indication as to launch class PY's.  So helping put some meat on the bones of EN's

Agreed ... kinda looks like a kids boat really ...

Still can't believe they're going to launch the Aero with a sail that looks like something that was dated by the 1980s.
Not when the nearest obvious competitor looks so much better and the technical arguments about mast / sail compatability are (apparently) largely bunkum.

Maybe in a mature market like the UK- full of t**sers with too much choice and quite probably not enough money...

Over in the Far East, or South America where it's full of keen beans with loads of cash and aspiration, maybe Mylar looks like a cheap and nasty plastic alternative to 'the real deal' they've seen on proper boats? The one thing I wouldn't ever do is underestimate RS's ability to carve out a position in the market- and it's global these days, 25 years on from that harbour wall story they wheel out every once in a while... Just sayin' ;-)

Harbour wall story? Must have missed that - or old age is catching up - again...

PM Nick or Martin... Basically they were a bit like Grumpf, they sat around a harbour wall somewhere sunny in the SW moaning about the old sh*te you'd see at a CVRDA meet up, (except it was current tech then, rather than retro chic) They were windsurfers and knew how to market cool surf culture stuff- and to be fair RS is still about the only really catchy 'kewell brand' in sailboat design - except unlike Grumpf they gave the world a decent avantgarde boat- the RS600... (The 400 was the safe bet to build the brand too, and it's still a boat a lot of folks are very fond of- myself included)

I may have got that grossly wrong... But bottom line, the RS vision has a very Pimms O'Clock beginning... Cool Britannia Rules the Waves... why else launch the Aero in London (at the very real risk of folks like us talking b**locks about chocolate bars and fabric sails) when key markets are overseas via their global distribution network?

Even the design is based around maximising units per shipping container... it's clearly a very well conceived project. I wish it well- rather see them on every sailing website than the sodding Laser doing nothing but lining the pockets of babyfingers et al.

They were a bit like Grumpf? Is that some other Grumpf that liked sewing a beer mat to his ass and sailing crap brands of sailboard?

And was ugly as well?

new video, although I wouldn't fancy carrying it with too much cross-on wind.

I know some of you don't like the white sail - but it looks good!. Maybe there are some  test / development sails here at GSC, from North and Hyde, -  the latest ones look nice.

I didn't know RS were in cahoots with Norths too... good news if they are, imho, Norths are superior sails to Hyde.
