It was definitely a day for heading to the midlands for the best wind- I had an excellent sail at Rutland- out of Whitwell, not the SC- We had a nice F4 and yes I was also planing upwind my board- not that 'carving off the fin' planing you get with a shortboard, but proper 'skiff-like' planing, railed up and sending it.... gorgeous day of sailing.

From my point of view (Handicap Fleet Captain) I'll be wanting to see the winter results before we change anything.  We do primarily handicap racing through the colder months, and  IMO this will provide the best feedback.

It's going to be interesting to see what Paul's fellow racers come up with though...
the same, but different...

There was a look of surprise on a few faces as I carved my way through the fleet..... but a very light boat in those conditions will always be quick.

Nice picture from Clevedon SC    If my memory serves me correct I think that the sailor is 62 Kgs.

They do have a bit of nose down tendancy, especially if you forget to slip backwards as you bear away. There is enough bouyancy there though so sipping backwards and the bow pops back out and the boats takes off....

yes- and that's the way a water sport should look and feel!  If you don't want spray in your G&T then get a Flying Fifteen, or a beginner dinghy 'floater' that bobs around and lacks any requirement to actually drive it...
