You may find this of interest from Wednesday night (especially the BCE column): - http://www.dwsc.co.uk/results/LastWednesday.htm He was beating the 800 round for the first two laps! Mike P.S. Our Wednesday night series does not start properly for another 2 weeks so do not read anything in the turnout.

Settings!
Well done Charlie, what were you on? Sail? Rake, Pinholes down on those wire bits. I set mine up 4 x 4 last night, that's 4 pin holes down and NO 4 on the rake position. Lead the 505 (who overstood) a 400 and everyone else, 470's lasers, supernovas round the first triangle, held onto 3rd until the last lap where I started messing around trying to find more power, then had my first kitemare, (it keeps twisting at the foot, probably the result of repetitive gybing the same way) then screwed the last gybe on the last leg to the finish and fell over, when I did finally finish dumb and dumberer had decided I was OCS anyway. (Not that anyone other than me ever gets called over at our club) But all in all I was very pleased with the way it went, but I think I need to mark kicker positions more clearly so I can see where I am, and I so need an adjustable outhaul. Same settings as always... 2 down on the shrouds, mast in
the middle of the gate, main sheet bridle adjusted so that is sheets to just inside the cockpit floor line, enough kicker for height but not too much (light winds), no cunningham Same technique as always.... hike hard, boat flat (and i mean flat!), port end flyer at the start, go the right way up the beat. Time in the boat... It's another hard day in the office!! |

Graeme. You are going to get OCS if I can see water beween the back of your boat and the pin. You were 1.5 boats over. There was a double hoot and me standing with arm in air for individual recall. Next time I am taking a flag. I will give you one thing you were pushed/dragged over by others who then ducked the line seconds before the start. Other than your capsise and ocs you were probably on to get second place after Doddsey having easily kept up with the 505 and 400 (1 minute in 1 hour race). Andrew

Blind & Dumb that's our race team..
Charlie you must be using the big sail, no way would the small set up work with just two holes down, the mast would be banging and crashing all over the show. Edited by G.R.F. |

Last time out I ran my small rig on the top hole for
exactly that reason. Its a big sail for some one my (our) size and so far at least, the rig tension/spreaders seem to work in the same way on this mast as they would on a conventional stayed rig. I.e. I want some more response and less power so I let off the rig tension. Only one sail so far but it did seem to do what I wanted... which was to let the middle of the mast bend to windward and thus let the leach twist off in the puffs Ian RS100 133 (Fred Quimby) |

Doesn't it bang and crash about in the chop?
Maybe it's just me in the sea, but it was bloody noisy mast bashing about making horrendous noises. |
