My point about the aero is simple. The RS100 sold in the numbers it did early on because people liked how it looked. Some sailed it for a little while and realised that they werent fit enough or good enough. Then the people who couldn't keep it upright moaned because they couldn't get back into it after the 15th capsize of the day. I sold mine because I had to move for work and couldn't keep it. Once settled in I bought the 200 as a project boat as it needed a little bit of love.

So that's my story. Don't accuse me of being negative towards the brand because I've been fairly loyal to them. I just don't like what they have done with the Aero.

OK, fair enough - must just be the posting style. Mind, on here people do seem to like to be down on things - keeps the threads going, I guess. If we all just said "Lovely" about everything, we'd get a page in and fall asleep.

On the Aero styling front, there are bits I don't like too, but I think the boxiness is a part of the design concept. There is beauty in function. The bit I don't like is the target on the foredeck.

rumours on sailing anarchy that this will launch in the US for $6k.... that's less than 4 grand at today's FX.

Anyone want to start a grey import operation?

could be state tax on top, besides, why start a grey import 'operation' I'd have thought if you wanted to buy a "fair number" and try and re-sell them on, then RS would be happy to talk to you about what currency you wished to be billed in and just how many shipping containers full you'd like to start of with ... Wink

I dunno- it was just a rumour from one of the RS dealers.  Probably some forum hype/vapourware.... but I thought it was an interesting end user price comparison.

that's true- best avoid the sunshine tax in California.  I think Oregon has a zero rate for sports equipment, but I'm not all that up on bringing in stuff on the dodge from Uncle Sam... my limit was buying some snowboard bindings, even then I ran scared of maximising the difference and declared the proper value for HMRC, taking the retail saving as 'good enough' for me.

All will be revealed shortly on the US launch price, but whilst it will begin with a $6... it will be closer to $7000. And yes, that's ex tax.

So if you're in the UK, you'll be pleased to know it's definitely better to keep the freight miles down, save the planet and place your order right here!

I guess when it reaches the end of its useful life you will be able to put it in the hard plastics skip at the local recycling center. 😁
