Russ,

When someone kicks in with the kind of negativity you expressed up front I'm not surprised it's been slower.

And I have noted that you are being very careful not to be say anything rude about the boat itself.  Shame that doesn't extend to the wrap around it - ie your comments about delivery.  Or mentioning the negative comments on the other thread.  Very clever to say there was lots of nonsense - then let James criticise the boat - then retract the fact that it was nonsense.

So I'm afraid I don't buy into your assertion that you are not criticising.  And if you're not meaning to then perhaps you should be even more careful how you put things.

I'd love to be able to filter posts from you in this thread - but that facility isn't available.  And I's only read them quoted - not least in the James/Russ double act.

I've seen an Aero. I think it looks ok and the guy who has bought it likes it and sails it every week. He is mid 70s and not as agile as once he was! The attraction to the boat was it's light weight and ease of moving it around once ashore compared to the K1 he tried before.

Maybe not the demographic RS were aiming at, but one delighted customer and someone out on the water most weekends enjoying himself.

Criticise? Really? Raised concerns about aspects ... Sure.

It's a dinghy development forum, and as far as we can tell the boats still in development in real terms - it would obviously have been best to leave it in the other thread, but hey what was tumble-weeding got called out and the enormous lead time highlighted.

What a load of tosh Matt. For someone who "only reads them quoted" you seemed to of draw a fairly conclusive opinion.  There is no hidden agenda in what I write, I have nothing to gain.  I have not personally attacked anyone, albeit I find myself having to defend an attack from you...yes it comes across that way.

James and I a re certainly not a double act, again if you read half of what was written you would see we have had some fairly major disagreements over the years.

Anyway, I have neither that want nor inclination to justify myself to you over the Internet.  I will keep asking questions if I feels so fit, it's my perogative as a consumer.  I have said nothing slanderous or negative, or even lacking fact.  I have however challenged things, it's a democracy and freedom of speech rains, I would think you mor Ethan most would appreciate that!

Answers to questions then

1) there's a question mark around the three rigs and rig switching - nope three distinct classes at class events. No different to the Laser

2) there's a question mark over build quality - From who? Its epoxy and carbon , thats why its light, combined with some clever design. I am not aware of anyone who has sailed one who has made such a comment. RS aftersales have always been good in my experience if there are any niggles.- usually sorted within 48hrs

3) It has a dacron sail - yes, try it on the mast and see how it works. Or ask North who make it. It is a very different rig to the ones you trot out every time its raised. it works well. There are nicer looking rigs, but as a functional rig its fine.

4) Marketing hype - Yes, its a tough market and they are just boats, but can't criticise anyone trying provided there are no porky pies.

Any more questions?

There are questions you can apply equally to both boats, ..removed... (but were nothing to do with my decision)

But no-one is asking them on the Zero thread.

That's the difference boys and why the RS camp aint happy.

I'll delete them once you've read it, then maybe call it a day with the bitching?
