If the sails are being cut with identical cloth and identical panels, which in these days of laser cutting and ISO9001 compliance ought not to be especially difficult to achieve, then different sailmakers ought to be able to produce essentially identical sails - especially if both are outsourcing mass production sails to the same far eastern sweat shop, which I'm sure of course *never* happens.

Or maybe achieve the same level of random errors in stitching them together as in SMOD sails?

5) class rules to be voted on to deal with confusion on sail makers

From Bookface- new sails are needed* to remain competitive... bit early for the Lipstick / PY banditry treatment ain't it boys  Wink LOL

For all D-1 sailors i'd like to announce due to the likely change to open sailmaker in the new year North Sails are working on a new main and kite to meet the new rules, assuming the rule change goes ahead we will be changing materials to a higher performance laminate in the mainsail, plus making a few small design tweeks from what we have learnt from the current standard sail. Plus we will be upgrading the materials used and the design of the kite. The aim will be to bring a demo set to a venue, potentially Oxford to show off the new versions early in the new year. As soon we we have more info i will post it on here for you all to peruse!
All the best for the winter sailing and hopefully see you on the water in the future sometime.

* prabably
