For those of you that are interested, the new British D-one association has now formed. Paperwork was handed over to the RYA at the dinghy show:

I am pleased to confirm that we have fixed a date and venue for this year’s D-One Nationals. We will be sharing the event with the Musto Skiff over the weekend of 8th/9th September at Lymington Town SC. We are planning to put a training day together on Friday 7th September for those interested with, hopefully, Nick Craig helping on this.

There will be a limited number of charter D-Ones available.  For more information please email info@suntouched.co.uk

Great time at the POSH regatta this weekend, was a bit light for me on Saturday but Sunday PM with a nice steady F4 sea Breeze made the weekend worth it.  I must say it was a real pleasure to be racing with the 100's some decent racing to be had at a great venue, super organised, Super fun!  I would recommend it and the D-one's will be back next year.

If anyone would like a test sail in the D-one over the summer please get in touch.  The Demo boat will be as far north as Ullswater for the Lord Birkett and as east as Thorpe Bay (tbc date) as far west as Abersoch and as far south as Lymington.

However if you would like to arrange a demo day at your club, please just either e-mail me russell_hopkins'at'hotmail.com or PM me via Y&Y alternatively message the Bristish D-one facebook group and i will sort something out.

Hi D-one owners.
Well guys you missed two great days sailing with sunshine and excellent race management at Lee on Solent.
As we have glasses engraved with your logo maybe you would now like to come to our regatta 1st and 2nd September.
Regards
Gordon

Gordon,

Did you get Tim Garvin (Class Chairman) e-mails? he sent one to your address on the SI which bounced back due to a typo in the address, which he later correct and one to your personal e-mail address.  Just explaining why the fleet could not make it?  I believe the class has also offered to reimburse LOSSC for the D-one trophy’s etc.  Unfortunately it fell on one of those weekends, I myself was away on Holiday in Abersoch and my understanding was as well as New babies, kids Birthdays, moving houses, (Wheels falling off trailers stranding boat in Ullswater) holidays and sailing in Garda we would not of been able to offer anything like a decent turn out.

As for the Regatta, I think that’s the same weekend as our European championships and I know we have a few boats going to that and the following weekend is our Nationals at Lymington.

If you get the chance please reply to Tim’s e-mail, where he can apologies to the club in his official capacity and refund the club for any losses for prizes.

Russ

Hi Russ
Yes, I did get Tims email to my home and I was trying to offer a more positive solution of our regatta as an alternative to reimbursement for the glass ware.
I did not mean this to be a negative comment these things happen and Tims email was much appreciated.
I will respond to him this week when I have recovered from 2 days catching and carrying boats out of the water onto trolleys.
Most disappointing was not getting a sneaky go!

Thanks Gordon, I hope the event went well.  I know the D-one fleet would very much like to come and race from LOSSC in the near future.  I will ask around to see if there is any appetitite for your regatta.  It would be an ideal opportunity for nationals practice.
