I think you'll be adding needless weight if you do re-peel ply, as you are going to need to coat the floor in paint to stop UV rays damaging the epoxy. And this will fill in all the holes left by the peel ply. Much better to ether go straight on top with ProGrip.
OR Fill and fair around the floor edges and case (for prettyness and lack of grazed knuckles), when dry mask and paint the edges with 2 pack. When dry mask off the painted areas and then paint the area to be gripped with 2 pack paint and sprinkle sugar over the top. When the paint is dry wash off the sugar and you are left with a textured surface. Edited by Jack Sparrow - 22 Jan 13 at 2:05pm |

All I can say about that stuff i used... CR@P .... It doesnt give you any grip when the floor is soaked, and all it is good for is ripping gear to shreds..
![]() If it were me, I would be going with one coat of paint to seal it, figure out where you want progrip, and paint around the marked areas to give the shine where the grip wont be, Then ProGrip the floor where you marked out previously.

Nice little video from a young (17?) English born New Zealand Farr 3.7 sailor showing that the 3.7 is a very manageable boat even in what looks like quite variable conditions.

RYA Dinghy Show 2013?
I'm sorry to say but the Farr 3.7 isn't going to be at the 2013 RYA Dinghy Show. Unfortunately due to a mix up in communications between my self and Dave at Butler Boats we didn't secure a space. It's one of those, "I thought you were doing it moments?" I was under the impression that the Farr 3.7 would be on the Allen stand as thats the conversation I remembered having with Dave. And Dave didn't finalise this with Allen as he thought I had secured the same space as last year with Spinlock! Since we discovered this we have been frantically trying to sort out another space, but to no avail. (So if you have space and would like to help or know someone who could help us please get in touch.) So all in all a right old cock up. Which is a really shame as the amount of people showing interest in the class is steadily increasing. This is born out buy the amount of web site survey's being completed. These are really helping gauge this interested and it would have been a great show, I'm sure. But to anyone out there who wants a test sail or is looking for a 3.7 please get in touch and between the class and Butler Boats we can arrange something. Dave Butler and I will be at the show at least one of the days, so come and tug either of our shirt sleeves. I'll be wearing a Farr 3.7 T shirt, and Dave is hard to miss, and most likely to be found on the Streaker Class stand. If you can't get to the show drop in on the UK Farr 3.7 website and have a look around at this great little lightweight single-handed trapeze dinghy. The perfect small adult and youth transition trapeze boat. http://www.uk3-7class.org ![]() |

Yes. I was on the phone the other day with Dave Butler and he assures me his demo boat will be finished in a couple of months. I am / was contemplating putting mine up for sale to allow me to import another one from NZ to try and get some more out there. But to be honest I want to sail it this season. As I haven't sailed it much since I've had it due to carting it everywhere for everyone else to sail it!
