thats because you have to be a real sailor to sail a dinghy

dinghy sailors can sail cats and keel boats but cat and keel boat sailros can not sail dinghys

Mate, for the record, I have raced 12, 14, 15, 16, 18 foot skiffs, lasers 125s, FDs, NS14, MG14 to Elliots, J24, Bull 900 ect.  Many off these skiffs you have probably only heard about and are a lot more challenging than any boat you've sailed.

I chose to do my serious campaigning in Cats because I enjoyed sailing them more.  Faster, more refined and just as tactical whilst a lot harder to squeeze the last % of boat speed out off.  A cat can be easy to sail but very hard to sail at maximum potential.  When a dinghy or skiff is graced by a gust, they heal then accelorate.  Cats just accelorate FAST with a little bit of heal.  They are far more efficent at harnessing the power of a gust.  Also our kites are smaller and flatter because the speed they generate off the breeze is so high, a big full skiff kite at thiese speeds creats too much drag.  Cats tried these kites and have since found flatter is faster.

Many of the cat sailors I sail with sail in other classes from Yachts to skiffs small dinghies and sail boards.  They are good sailors in all classes.

Many mono sailors don't like cats because they are intimidated buy them or do not understand them.  Think outside the box and beyond and you will discover the true enjoyment of sailing.  With this type of closed mind thinking, innovations like multies, foils, kite boards ect would not move ahead.

There is more to sailing than one hull stuck in the water.

Here's another couple pics for ya all

5 knots max and still a balancing act.  We would be making twice windspeed here too.

Last time I sailed a mono, when the breeze was light you sat or crouched inboard and balanced the boat too.

I hope I have not offended mono sailors here as I respect them as I do all sailing boats and enjoy sailing as many different styles as I can.  We all here are sailors and our sport competes with the likes of tennis, football, cricket ect.  Sailors should stick together rather than bicker amoungst ourselves and help grow the sport as a whole.
