I like the thought of anything big (Osprey / 505 / FD etc) which can go for speed in a 30 knot breeze. I also like the comment about a spinnaker being a bit too unstable in top breezes.
So stable and able to travel with just 2 sails up.
I presume that sailrocket doens't actually have a PN numbner....coz de-rigging for each tack would be slow!!
A Cherub or a 12-footer from down under is probably quite a good bet. Isn't the h/cap similar to a 420?

That little V3k can get quite a lick on with a half decent puff up it's ass.
Reckon that could be good for 20kts |

I dont see 20 knots being that unreasonable, I have had 15knots on GPS from a laser 2 single handed, a 3k being lighter with more sail is probably capable of 20 in a very good wind

gps 30 second overall speed.
I think 30 seconds feels like quite a long time in 'top speed' conditions. |

Not a stupid question at all. I have two GPS units that don't do it. One Magellan, one Garmin, both over ten years old. I have two others collecting raw NMEA data on a PC, I can feed that into a spreadsheet. Just need a waterproof PC now... It would not be hard to 'simulate' the data. I guess I've just DSQ'd myself....
