The new Laser b**tard

does it matter if the boat is made marginally faster? its not as if a new hole in the rudder costs much, if anything to create, but it would make the whole boat more user friendly, likewise with the taping of the rear corners. i don't think anyone really thinks that a successful class could be made by giving the hull carbon spars and a fathead main. there are other boats that do that kind of thing well, but a laser could be so much nicer, but still a laser.

Or just run a zip up the luff tube... Having a zip in there would go someway to justifying the bloody price tag.

I've noticed a huge difference in my ability to sail a Laser. Being far too short and somewhat on the light side, I found the old kicker just wouldn't depower enough, and I couldn't get the old cunningham on enough to stop me being stuck in irons in a blow. Barely used the cats cradle mess they had for years, but jumped in an XD rigged boat when doing some training a few years ago, and was amazed at the difference.

Oh come on! What a good and successful car the Morris Minor was, over 1,000.000 sold......why did they ever change it?
