I think we have 1 more D-one to enter as well, so we hit the magic 8 boats for our own fleet prize.  Not bad at all,, think we have even more entered for the Stevie Nick.  Big smile

I think there may be a couple more Blazes .... not sure about pre-entering myself just yet though !  It looks like a blowy / gusty / rainly / sleety blizzard from East is on the way.

My Cold Survival plan in the past for blizzards has meant over-dressing with full length summer wetsuit under good drysuit with an extra layer as well + balaclava (and quick prayer the sun does not come out at all !!)  If as forecast ... well just toasty except in the finger department.

Mike L  (Icon or Blaze or ... or maybe sit next to fire at home avoiding the masochistic tango !)

I would have been there in the Blaze, but I have a big hole in the bottom of my boat

Funny I'd noticed that switch to the East although my XC weather had a little sunny icon last I looked, sorry to hear of the hole in your boat Toby, I was still contemplating joining the other EPS in the battle for 102nd place but I don't think it's going to happen now, those bed covers on a Saturday morning are so toasty...

Toby

Two words - GAFFER TAPE  (You should have seen the quick repair in a recently holed Blaze that turned up at the Inlands - it worked just fine !)

So what hit you then ?  .... must be enormous to be beyond Gaffer tape ... was the rammer a heavy old 50's type 'baby boomer' boat then ?  or something a tad more lively  LOL

Anyway sounds like a right pain in the ... (well you did ask for a pun !)

yep- stay there Graeme, it looks like a miserable excuse for an event.  Crap launching.  Crap racing.  300 of the most insane dinghyists - including women, who neglect the fact that sailing is traditionally a summer pursuit for gentlemen.  Barely a degree or two over freezing, not to mention a slightly northerly looking wind chill to make sure that no matter how many doses of hardenthefuc&up you've taken, you'll still come on here Monday morning to bloat the forum with more 'crap gloves' threads and vapourware about some new hand warming design you're envisioning.

8 Devoti Ones clogging up the lanes and moaning like a bunch of school girls that you're breaking the rules if you luff them (edit: not sure it was the D-Ones who started that, but we can hardly pin it on iCon sailors can we...) Not to mention Phantom sailors wet farting in the changing rooms, then laughing about it as the fungal aroma of two Ginsters slices at 7:30 in the morning takes hold of their intestines- and everyone else's nasal passages.  I guess at least it will kill off the Norovirus that's bound to lurk amongst that many 'outdoor types' in the middle of January in a damp room full of damp kit.

And then you've got the mothies... cheeky sods who stay in the warm until the last minute, blast around the lake for five minutes and clean up.  Frankly it was only just bearable when the stupid sods weren't awarded a finish a few years ago.  What next, cats... jetskis... Basher on his freestylee lake board?

I on the other hand will be towing a horse to some dressage event; where I will then sit in the car, nursing a thermos flask of fresh coffee and watching a film on my iPhone.... that's assuming there's 3G and I can get anything other than a Jason Statham movie on Netflix.  It's a far better way to spend a Saturday, I'm sure.
