Combined sales of all those classes probably less than total 'Laser' sales, 'Aero' sells 5 a week, 'Quest' probably more than 5, (but rotomoulded so majority will think it doesn't count
) in conclusion, slick marketing, good reputation etc and still can't knock down a 1970's beach dinghy.

It’s doesn’t really matter which sells the most, but which makes the most money.

Exactly. And compared to Laser, RS are still relatively new kids on the block. Laser has been around since when? Early seventies? RS were LDC back then, they didn't acquire the RS bit until the early to mid eighties and it was the nineties before they started to make traction. They also wethered this recession better than Laser AFAIK, I haven't checked the financials lately but I would think RS are doing OK, but I doubt Laser is massively profitable. I could be totally wrong of course, as I said, Laser isn't really on my radar and maybe the global reach does more for them, but then, are they not different profit centres in other parts of the world? I'm talking parochially, our scene here, who moves and shakes it and it certainly doesn't appear to be Laser to me. Edited by iGRF - 12 Nov 18 at 10:03pm |

Not forgetting all the rest of pre 80's boats that are still doing very well thank you.
The 'Laser' haters favourite boat the super light 'Aero' is apparently so lightly built bits are dropping off it. |
