I said C, but am happy to travel.  Cotswolds would be good, so would Broxbourne.
the same, but different...

Possibly Fairhope YC, swimming pool, not much current, good veranda, great sunsets, great food, plenty of room for camper vans and boat parking, friendly locals, good accomodation, no barbed wire fences, reliable weather outside hurricane season, warm water, consistant sea breeze, Mount Gay rum and coke instead of Brandy and Babycham, say the word and I'm on to it?

Hollowell, Banbury, Barnt Green, Bartley are all Midlands and quite small reservoirs. Also Shustoke and South Staffordshire (although the latter may be a bit small).

for us, with our boats the sea is just a non starter.

i am up for broxbourne, any of cotswolds clubs or any of the above clubs but bartley. i would have to be up all night, keeping guard on our boats instead  of drinking. Wink and thats just a no no! LOL

if i had to choose, my favorite local clubs are banbury and hollowell.

There's already the Draycote Dash... I think it's still on this year, but it would not be the same 'one fleet' vibe as the weekend just gone, not on a bigger lake where you're stuck out for the duration 4 back to back, either confused senseless on average laps or waiting around for 40 minutes for the slower boats to finish- neither's a great solution.

BTW- I thought you sailed the Icon beautifully, very graceful through the water.... maybe one day in the future, who knows. Thumbs Up

Other options are
Dorchester (south of Oxford not dorset)
Haversham
Swalkestone
Chase
Staunton Harold
Burton
Blithfield
South Staffs
Chelmarsh
South Cerney
Whitefriars
Cotswold

Sure there are others but these seems cover the Midlands area so could please easterners and southerners and the northerners. Only grf would be upset

There's quite a big res at Farmoor, seem to remember a bit of ground around it as well, could be worth a look, it's the very first place I ever raced with a sail.

Er 2am bar? I hate to think what Mrs Miggins would think about me rocking back at that hour, we were p1ssed by 8 if you remember, coming straight off the water and rehydrating as only proper sailors should, via pints.

Er how come there are 49 votes when only 23 showed up?

There will have to be a penalty for all you no shows this time, you realise the first round will have to be on anyone turning up for the first time. Oh and there's the little reserving your space on the start line issue that will have to be dealt with, we can't have maxi blubbering his rattle out of his phantom again can we?

Er!  Actually I don't remember as I think I had achieved the 6th pint of 1664 by then and stopped counting!  Anyway at least I had Sue to drag/carry me to our Pikey.  Did I throw you over the gate before the night was out or was it the barbed wire at the top of the gate that ripped the ass out of you wetsuit exposing your hairy ....?  What on earth did Mrs Miggins think of you going home in your rubber gear with the ass ripped out?

Teaching you the finer points of ballsing up the start grf as it was the first time you were there. If anyone can mess up a start its me. Race 2 Sunday for instance, minute early, thought it was a bit empty there.

Farmoor is Oxford sc I think. Concrete bowl bit bare can't remember much else about it
