So how does this sailjuice thing work, because at the GGP and Steve Nicholson not everyone is sailing against everyone, whereas at the bloody mary and tiger trophy they are? How are overall positions worked out?

4. Scoring a. Scoring is based on a ‘low points’ scoring system (1 point for finishing 1st, 15 points for finishing 15th etc), combined with other criteria explained below. b. Some events divide participants into different fleets (eg. Steve Nicholson Trophy), while others race all participants together as a single fleet (eg. Bloody Mary). In order to be able to score different types of event with some measure of consistency, a formula will be applied according to Paragraph 4c below. c. Scores for each fleet will be referenced and adjusted to the fleet that has the most number of starters across the whole Series. For example if the Bloody Mary (which counts as one massed fleet) proves to be the largest fleet of the Series with, say, 230 starters, and the Fast Handicap of the Grafham Grand Prix has 48 starters, the score from your finishing position at Grafham would be: Your Finishing Position x 230/48. So if you finished 1st in Fast Handicap at Grafham, your score would be 4.79. If you finish 20th, it would be 95.83. d. For scoring codes such as DNF, these will be based on the largest fleet of the whole series + 1. e. Competitors count their their three best event scores to determine their final overall Series score. f. In the event of a tie for the overall Series, the tie will be split by who beat who at the final event of the Series. If neither of the potential winners attended the final event of the series, the tie will be split by the results of the previous event, and so on until the tie can be split. If the potential winners participated in separate fleets, the better finishing position in their respective fleets will determine the overall Series winner. Cheers Bob

Hiya Merlin Boy, Apols for not being at Draycote this w/end. Work travel dictaes - unfortunately.
Now the GGP trapezioud course hasn't been all bad for us. 2 yrs ago (I think), we had a 1,2 4 in the handicap fleet on the trapeziod course. It was in light winds, and the big kite gave us a magic advantage on the long broader reach at the bottom....
Of course, in any breeze we'll get murdered by a f/ball - especially if they can hold the top reach with their kites. Swings and roundabouts for me.
I thought that a few yrs back, they did give us differnet courses in the 2 races 1 trapezoid, and 1 windward leeward. that seemed fair for us.....but I'm not sure that the rest of the fleet were too happy......mind you, there wern't many boats that finished that one...fairly breezey!!

I have a good handful of winter sailing topper kids who wanted to come but can't because their pn is 1288....yet their same age or younger mates can come in their 4.7s...
They all want to sail at Grafham as much as poss ready for the nssa event in July. SB, I doubt I'll be sailing on the 2nd, but I do have winter membership. If you need a hand with anything let me know. |
