You will like the firefly then, very difficult to get to go fast.

And Steve TC will make you feel like he is the one in a skiff the distance he wil put on you. When you can get close, you can come back and tell us you are good

I never did, but won lots of other things!

I wouldn't have to be in the squad now to be anywhere near gold fleet, I am young, plenty of time to spair.. Since there are only 3 spots in the development squad, you got to work pretty hard, and like I said before, I probably won't get into gold fleet but its not your place to comment on.

Considering your other little attacks on me, I assumed it was another one. How am I coming across as a t**t anyway, all I did was give an opinion, you don't have to comment on it, or try and pick at what I say.

A question was asked, I answered it, i didn't try to insult anyone or anything, I just said what I had found when sailing two boats.

I'm sorry but how does that make me a t**t? Surely the t**t is the one who picks at everything someone says for the hell of it! I haven't said one bad thing about anyone until calling you a t**t, your the one who has been needlessly critizing what I say.

Becuae i find "some" of your points of view ill-informed and frustrating! I have nothing personal against you at all Chris i am a little older then 16 and therefore am not interested in School boy name calling, and i'm not sure insulting people has any place here!

You need to be ready for critisicism on here if your postings are not fully thought out ! I find it very frustrating when people post just for postings sake, another example is in the which boat thread, there is no need to call a 2k a barge it does nothing to help the newbies trying to get into our great sport!

I said it is a bit of a barge, because he said he didn't want a barge.. I didn't say it is a barge, it was just a bit of a joke! After all they are rather heavy...

I only insulted you because I thought you were insulting me, but I now know I miss read your post and I am sorry.

End of arguement?

Guys please!!  Can we just get back on topic and save the petty squables for a different post. So as was put forward earlier, how does the 800 compare to other skiffs? b14, i14 etc

Thanks

I've not sailed any of those, so can't offer opinion, but you're looking at quite a range there.

I 'aspire' to an 800 myself, if I can find a large enough piece of water with good club racing! I wouldn't consider the 49er myself because it seems to be the 'pinnacle' - and there is a limit to how challenging I want my sailing to be (for a challenge I have 'life'; sailing is so I can have fun). Similarly I've always loved Cherubs - think I actually preferred 'em in the days of the 9ft pole, if that's not heresy! - but they are going to be pretty challenging too. And me+crew are probably 'heavy' for a Cherub.

Now you notice I've just listed 2-wire skiffs? I personally wouldn't consider "800 vs B14" cause I don't fancy all that hiking. If you're weighing up such a wide range of skiffs then I'd expect you'd also want to be taking into account local factors (who sails what at your club), you might sacrifice your no. 1 choice for one lower on the list but with good fleet racing.

Like I said, I don't know much about any of them (see new Y&Y for 800 review) - just thought I'd give some general 'advice', as much for other readers as yourself. I would end "HTH", but I doubt it does  .

[Right, got a mast to go repair now....]

Other factors you need to take (personal) view on, as well as hiking vs. trapeze: development vs. one design; do you just want an SMOD to 'maintain', or a 'hand-built' craft you can spend winter re-modelling and enhancing.
