He's a windsurfer now tick, everybody knows what t**sers windsurfers are, he was busy bothering the RNLI like windsurfers do..

Meanwhile us sensible *RSR's are down the lake enjoying the camaraderie of a race.

*RSR= Racing Sailboat Rider which is what I now call myself, you are all still dingy sailors or dinghyists

Sadly it was cold sea... but a good 5 degrees warmer than the usual reservoir pish!!!  (and there were these things called waves, and would you believe it, some wind as per the forecast... well worth the drive)

Not that these things are issues for those sailing the equivalent of a bubble car, on a man made puddle that all likelihood could be artificially heated from a ground source pump if the members weren't such tight arses who refuse to pay for a proper sailing club just up the road....     Wink

Yep, its just like a large open meeting socially, plus you get to see people you probably haven't seen for years, plus there's none of the hassle of actually taking a boat along* or damp kit to bring home**...

*that is apart from those poor SOBs up and down the country who are panicking about how on earth they are going to get the boat finished on time, or have just discovered a now dead spider in the middle of the varnish on the foredeck or whatever other aspect of the get-the-boat-ready-for-sailboat panic they are now in...

**unless your class has one of *those* parties on Saturday night...

Now, I will agree about the lack of decent chandlery offers at the show, compared to 15 years ago. Maybe they have worked out that the season is just starting, so feel they don't need to make silly offers? Given the price you can get stuff for on ebay, I'd have thought that some good offers at the show would build some brand loyalty for the rest of the year - I certainly prefer buying online from somewhere that I know really exists, provided the price differential isn't taking the piss.

All this show talk - is the Rooster branded 4000 going to be there? I'd love to see it in non-90's colour scheme. Mind, that probably means grey... yawn. Looking forward to seeing the Farr 3.7 more, just to see the paint scheme we all decided on!

I'll admit the tone of the forum has been a little morose... all tongue in cheek with a dashing of the reality of modern life getting in the way of sailing I hope.

But I think that's a little harsh...

dingy
ˈdɪn(d)ʒi/
adjective
  1. 1.
    gloomy and drab.
    "a dingy room"

that is still true, but its still a lot of money for a small class. i know the british moth class thought long and hard about whether it was value for money and worth the trouble for the publicityand possible new members.
i think it is, but it was a close run thing when it came to the vote!

and dont even start me on trying to get members to man the stand Unhappy

Really? We're just putting together a rota for the RS300 stand and we have more volunteers than we can cope with.  Smile

actually good point, for those not lucky enough to have one sailing at their club, going to the Dinghy Exhibition to see one of these would probably be worth missing a drift around the puddle.

Thats because 300 sailors, and I have known a few, are mean and wish to get in for nothing!
