How can this be dropped for a leadmine? - Especially when sailing is meant to be appealing for tv!!

Dropping the T for a tiny section of the sport like women's match racing? Oh my god, I would NEVER have believed it.

I'm still clinging to the hope that the IOC will now relent and let sailing keep the extra medal rather than ditch such a spectacular part of the sport. After all, it worked when the Star was dropped.

Prince, I don't know how anyone can say that a form of the sport that uses wind over a sail as propulsion; where starts are almost identical to those in a LAser or Tornado (in terms of positioning, timing etc); where working the shifts is as vital as in a fast cat; where flow over foils is vital, where heel of sails, foils and hull is critical, where adjustement of sail twist and draft by outhaul and downhaul adjustment, etc etc etc is "not sailing".

Sure, at the moment some boards pump - but so do 470s and Finns in a breeze. Windsurfer racing is very definitely sailing, as guys who windsurf and have won titles in Skiffs, Lasers, Radials, Moths, A Class, Tornadoes, yachts etc will tell you.
