18 is faster downwind then a 12

12 aint much faster then a well sailed 14

Well dunno bout you mate, but if there was a good sailor in a up to date 18 and a 12 i bet you the 18 would go faster.

Iain, Even in the 18 you have bout for little money i still think it will be quicker than andy's 12  . Andy why not race the 18s on the circuit? Or too much of a challenge m8ty?

we race on sydney harbour in the 12 with the 18's around pretty regularly. not on the same course but we line up often enough. the 18 is faster all the time except for downhill in about 10kts when the 18 cant pull 3strings. in those conditions we are marginally quicker to the bottom mark.

 

should point out that modern 14 are quicker than 12's to.

i still think the 12 is the most fun though
