http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8V_8wIWkUA at 2.23 there is a kite drop not perfect but shows hand over hand laser style sheeting for the halyard.
if like rogue said (not in this video clip) you over sheet the kite the boat becomes more stable and you can uncleat the halyard let it drop half way then bag it. if its held tight along the foot it stops you runing over the kite. there is less friction this way because you not pulling against the wind in the kite. its not quite as fast as just bagging it but tidy with out the kite flapping alover the place.
this video was with a prototype D-one so you should be dropping faster, I think Luca improved the sock shape and material for the production version.

Sten, in the Musto, how, or with what, do you steer during the hoists and drops?

Tiller under your back leg. Use pressure on your calf to steer.

This works for me to. Only problem was I slipped and fell on the tiller (what a plonker) - now I've got an alluminium tiller which is more forgiving!

I'd wondered why no-one had developed some sort of self centering device, as you say a bit of bungee would do it, I'm going to sort something for the V-of Twice the Joy.
