they pretty much give them to you at the 18foot league(sydney). you can apply for a place on a boat to the league, they will allocate you in a crew and give you a boat to race for the year. i dont know of any people who race their that actually own the boats, most are owned by the club and the club organises the sponsorship (mostly through john winning's appliances company, though i dont klnow any specifics about that.)

downside is that you have to lift them. and do all the maintainence.

Hi no one see this?

 Top gear took a Toyota Hi- Lux pick up stuck a 225 Honda four stroke on the back welded up the doors and a lot of foam later took it cross the english channel in about 6 hours I think? that was Clarkesons, Hammond tryed to take a VW Transporter Camper got just out side dover harbour and capasied / stank, and May didn't get out of the harbour with pictured above  / RS400 ( bad Advert  for RS???)

the mirror rig was the last time round.....he used the same 'hull' but mirror sails on a small lake in staffordshire.

lost count of how many times he broke his carbon mast this time round.....

It wasn't a carbon mast, it was a 2 piece aluminium mast!

I did once have everything go tits up whilst sheperding a class across the ferry channel in Poole. Just as a gust knocks down the lasers, and the windward shroud on one of the wayfarers snaps, the one of those that plies its trade to Cherbourg/the channel Islands comes steaming round Browsea. Definite browntrouser stuff. But then, they look so small next to proper ferries...
