News ? .....

We will complete hull tooling and pop a couple out  for build and sailing assessment within a month.  Timing thereafter depends on final rig sorting (and especially mast sourcing - never take that one for granted ...)   We will also be playing around with controls, locations etc in parallel.

I think about the last item to be finilised will be the thwart option.  If you want one - you can have one - but then you don't have to have one.  It will be about the only regular option.

So not too long ....

Hi Cad,

The Icon will be built to the highest standards - not just in terms of materials, but also construction techniques and skills.  I know this becasue I have pestered Mike for hours and seen the boat in build.  The result will be a light, stiff and robust boat that, truth be told, is a cut above the norm.

The choice between 'epoxy' and 'vinylester' (not polyester) is not as straightforward as you might think.  There are many varieties available, all with pro's and con's.  I don't know what the Icon will end up with, but if an epoxy is most suitable it will have it, if it is not, it won't.

The Icon is being designed, built and fitted to the highest standards because Mike believes (correctly IMHO) that that is the best way of ensuring its success.  As well as attention to detail in construction, there is also plenty of ongoing discussion with suppliers for sails, masts, ropes, hardware to end up with the best kit at a very competitive price.

Where abouts are you based Cad?  You are more than welcome to try mine when I get it (I'm at Chew in Somerset).  I'm also planning on doing some winter events if I'm up to scratch by then!

Meant to add:

If you've got any preferences re sails, fittings, ropes etc it's probably not too late to try and influence Mike's decisions!

Hi Peaky,

Thanks for that. I am very interested to see the result of the attention to detail that you describe.

I also sail at Chew Wink

Should be simple to arrange then!
