hahah talking about jousting, I remember last year on a 3 sail reach we
were charging along approaching the lasers (pursuit) and one of the
sailors looked around to see our pole approaching rapidly and straight
for him at head height! i wish i had, had a camera to record the look
on his face priceless

Its not perticularly funny when some overpowered tw*t who thinks he can handle his assy in a force 6 puts a hole in the side of your wooden boat tho.... (so make sure you aim for the crew not the boat |

We werent overpowered, we were keeping the speed on so that on the next
gust we cud bear away and duck him whilst still keeping plenty of speed
on! And as i said the pole was at head height!!!

One of my nastiest sailing memories was when a race Officver set a high speed reaching leg for the Cherub Nationals right through the bit of water the local sailing school used for their raw beginners to reach to and fro. Obviously in those circumstances rules go out the window and the racers have to give way, but my nightmare vision was, just as we were nicely shaped up to go behind one, she tacked... For a few desperate sesconds until we somehow scrambled clear the end of the kite pole was heading for her skull at 20knots...

always the beginners who have no idea what they are doing and funnily
enough they are usually the most dangerous!

yeah i guess everyone has to start some where .....i learned to sail in very restricted water and our club now has a fast rib so whenever the beginners are heading towards the Narrow boats, they can put their blow up tanks in between the two fragile boats he he he gives you a bit of a shaking tho !!!
Now i ave a quite nice area to sail in at Chew |
